What is the Gender Affirming Therapy?
Every individual’s experience of gender and gender expression is unique, and many benefit from psychotherapy to clarify their goals for affirming their gender, to problem solve any barriers to receiving gender affirming medical care, and to obtain emotional support throughout the process. For transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse individuals who are also experiencing depression, anxiety, or trauma, gender affirming therapy provides a safe and affirming space to engage in evidence-based treatments for mental health concerns while processing their experience of transphobia and cultural/societal oppression.
